Barista

Description

Title: Cafe Team / Barista

Reports to: Cafe Manager

Classification: Full-time / part-time, hourly pay

Starting Pay: $15/hour + tips

Opportunity available:

Our cafe team is the face of Kid Dream. You are the first point of engagement for a customer with our business and a vital part of the customer experience at our shop. One of our goals is turning our customer’s day around- we want to see them in a better place after spending a few minutes in our shop- the cafe team is responsible for fulfilling this mission.

You will serve up delicious brewed coffee (roasted by our friends both locally and across the country), make comforting espresso beverages, prepare some tasty food options, buss tables, run food, wash dishes, and other basic cleaning tasks. The job responsibilities are relatively broad, but it comes down to offering the best customer experience we can dream of. If this sounds like it’s up your ally, you’re probably a good fit for the job!

We are confident in our training abilities- so coffee experience is not required to work at Kid Dream. What we are looking for is someone who is generally excited to serve people, have a willingness to buy into our customer experience goals, and just overall be nice to everyone that walks into our door.

Things you will need to do at work:

  • Be kind, engaging, and inviting to our guests

  • Have extensive knowledge of our coffee and food offerings

  • Be positive and honest

  • Be open to training and re-training when necessary

  • Be confident and seek to always be improving the skills needed to operate our coffee bar

    • Customer Service

    • Coffee brewing and espresso extraction

    • Finishing drinks with excellence

    • Preparing toasts and other food items

    • Dishwashing and general cleaning duties

  • Hustle and serve guests quickly, accurately, and efficiently

  • Stay current with our menu offerings and show a deep knowledge of the items we serve and offer

  • Handle cash and credit card transactions to ensure an accurately kept register

  • Take pride in the condition of your workspace (always making sure to keep the space clean)

Are you qualified?

Yes, if…

  • You share our passion for coffee, food, and customer service

  • You desire to build community in Beverly and beyond

  • You are willing to work on a team that is always evolving and always trying to do things better than we were yesterday

  • You are excited about what we are trying to do in Beverly

  • You understand what kind of barista position this is and what it isn’t (we aren’t interested in the pretentious side of specialty coffee)

  • You can do basic math (for coffee ratios, register accuracy, etc.)

  • Willingness to work weekends (at least Saturdays) and general schedule flexibility

  • You have reliable transportation to and from work
